A couple of nights ago we were getting the kids ready for bed. I was walking up to Ashlyn's bedroom and notice one of those child safelty knobs on her doorknob. I thought, no big deal, she was obviously just trying to keep Blake out of her bedroom. Either that or she was just playing with it. Wrong, those were not the reasons. The real reason was, she was trying to keep her parents out of her room. Why you might ask? Well because when I opened the door, this is what I found...

So I know what you are thinking... "all kids rooms are messy, so what!" But no, first of all, Ashlyn's room is never messy unless she has friends over. Second of all, it wasn't like it was just a bunch of toys that she had been playing with that she left out. Blake and Ashlyn litterally tore her room apart . Every single toy bin had been turned over and every shelf had been emptied. These pictures do not justify what the room really looked like. The best way I can describe it is... you know how in movies when someone comes home and they notice that they have been either robbed or someone was searching for something, because the burgular has emptied and torn apart every last inch of the house? Well that is what Ashlyn's room was like. There was nothing that was still in its place. And let me just say, Terry was less than pleased!! I have never seen him so mad at Blake. (We know that it was Blake's idea cause Ashlyn would have never done that on her own. She loves how pretty her bedroom is.) Blake was supposed to have his friend Seth over to play the next day, but I had to call his mom and cancel last minute because Blake needed to realize how mad we were. And just to give you a comparison, this is how Ashlyn's bedroom looks most of the time...

Terry and I were stunned. What made these kids decide that it would be fun to destroy her room? Well, with all of the yelling and punishing and threatening that took place afterwards, you'd be safe to bet all of your money that it will never happen again.
That is so funny (since it wasn't me...) I would have been mad, too. But Avrie's room always gets torn apart, I need to come take lessons from you on how to teach them to keep it clean :) Your kids really are adorable though. Her room is super cute too.
ReplyDeleteHahaha, I'm sorry! Did they ever say WHY they wanted to do that? To tell you the truth, me and my sister did that to our room when we were little. It was the day before school started and we were SO excited we couldn't stand it. So my sister had the idea to trash our room so we'd have to stay busy all day cleaning it up, but the cleaning got old really fast! I was a nerd, I know:)
ReplyDeleteI did laugh as well. Sometimes I just want to hire a maid no matter the cost. Glad both your kids are still alive. Though I have never seen your house dirty before, kinda refreshing!!
ReplyDeleteHa ha! That is too funny!
ReplyDeleteHahahaha!!! I would have LOVED to have been there to see the look on ya'lls face when ya'll opened the door! Glad to see they survived after that! And what a clever idea to put the child proof knob on the door! lol!!! That's too funny that they thought ya'll wouldn't be able to get in with that on it! Man that's funny! Bet ya'll had a blast cleaning that up!
