Damon is 2!!!!

Damon had his 2nd birthday on Sunday, December 11th. We had a pretty low-key party for him. Terry's parents came over for dinner and a little party. We just had cake and opened some presents.
Here's his cake. He LOVES Mickey Mouse Clubhouse right now, so I got the only Mickey Mouse Cake they offered at Walmart. (Kinda girly looking, but he didn't seem to mind!)
Dad helping Damon blow out the candles.
The kids blowing their party horns.
The whole family.
(Ashlyn had been extremely sick the night before this, that is why she looks a little rough!)
Opening presents. This was from Grandma and Grandpa. Its a dog that you pull on a string. Pretty cute.
This was one of those blow up, stand up punching bags, that pop back up when you hit it. It lasted for a few minutes then got a hole in it!!

He also got a remote control car, a toy hammer set, and a few other things.

We sure do love our Damon. He is getting so big. I wish he would slow down a bit. He is at such a fun age right now and I wish he could stay this age forever.

Happy Birthday Big Boy!

On a side note....
Damon has become very interested in using the potty! He tells me everyday that he needs to go poop. He doesn't poop everytime, but he has many times. I haven't even attempted to potty train, he is just kinda doing it on his own. How did I get so lucky?

Catch up time!!!!

It has been WAY too long since my last post! I decided I better get caught up before Damon's birthday and Christmas, otherwise I may never catch up. So I will just start where I left off...

Labor Day Weekend

Every Labor Day since I was a kid, our family has had a tradition of going to an amusement park. It was always kind of a family reunion on my Dad's side of the family. Back then we lived in Louisiana, so we would go to Houston's "Astro World." Now that we are grown and have families of our own, we wanted to keep the tradition alive. So my siblings and I have started taking our families, along with our Mom and Dad, to Lagoon. The kids have loved it, and its fun to let them do the same thing we did as kids. Well unfortunately this year things were different. My sister Jenna and her family moved to Peru, and my sister Aja and her family had other things going on this year, so we didn't end up going to Lagoon. Instead, Terry and I took our kids camping with his parents. The day we were supposed to leave to go camping, Damon was running a fever and was acting cranky. So before leaving, Terry took him into the doctor to get checked out. They ran all the test and they came back negative, so we decided he would be ok to go camping. So we did. While there we did alot of 4 wheeling, and a little bit of fishing. We all had a pretty good time. Damon had quite the trip... While fishing at this little creek, Damon was sitting really close to the water, and it was really pretty, so I thought I would grab my camera off the 4 wheeler to take his picture. Just as I pulled the camera out, Damon dove in head first. Terry had to yank him out by his foot. (Unfortunately I was not quick enough with my camera.. I missed the shot!) So I put Damon on the 4 wheeler and drove him back to camp to change his clothes. (His clothes were completely soaked!) A little later in the day, I was in the camping trailer with Damon when I suddenly heard him crying. He had pushed on the door of the trailer, and the door had popped open, and he fell out of the trailer head first, going down on the 3 or 4 metal steps of the trailer. Luckily he only got scratched up. It could have been much worse. Finally, before leaving to head back home, Terry's mom got a call on her cell phone. It was Damon's doctor office. I had left my phone at home on accident, and the office had been trying to call me all weekend, and finally decided to call Bonnie cause she is listed as the emergency contact. The swab they had taken of Damon's throat turned out to be strep throat. Poor baby! We had taken him camping with strep throat, and he had fallen into a cold creek with strep throat. He was such a trooper though. He didn't act sick at all while camping. No worries though... we were able to get home in time to get his medicine from the pharmacy, so he was just fine. Although we were sad to have to miss Lagoon this year, it was nice to be able to take the kids camping one last time before it got cold. Here are some pictures taken over the weekend...

The creek where Damon went for a swim.
This picture was taken on the top of Sawtelle. The drive to get up here was the scariest drive ever! I for sure thought we were going to slide off the edge of the cliffs to our deaths. I was such a baby!!! The whole time we were up there, all I could think about was the dreaded drive back down. I did not like it at all. It was pretty though!
Another view on Sawtelle.

Halloween
Next on the list is Halloween. We went to several different Halloween festivities this year. First was the annual High family/Daniels family Halloween party. Then we went to Trick or Treat street. (Local businesses line the street and fill up the kids' bags.) Then on Halloween we went to the Iona city Trunk or Treat, then to a few neighborhoods for door to door Trick or Treating. The kids got tons of candy!....

Blake the karate kid at his school costume parade.
Ashlyn the Geisha at her school costume parade.
Damon the angry cowboy.

Thanksgiving
We had a really good Thanksgiving this year. We drove down to my Mom and Dad's house in Utah, and got to spend the holiday with them, my brother Ricky, and my sister Aja's family. We were sad my sister Jenna and her family couldn't be there, but we were able to chat with them on Skype. We drove down on Wednesday and then celebrated Thanksgiving on Thursday. Next was BLACK FRIDAY. We are big BLACK FRIDAY shoppers, and were really excited that everywhere we wanted to shop was open Thanksgiving night. So rather than waking up early, we just stayed up late. (I hope they do this every year!) Shopping was a little disappointing this year. They really didn't have any amazing deals like they normally have. But I still walked away with plenty of stuff, and it was still alot of fun and crazy!! On Friday we took the kids on a train ride from Layton to Salt Lake City. The kids were all really excited cause this was their very first train ride. Once in Salt Lake we found a place to eat dinner, then went to Temple Square to see the lights. It was really crowded and really cold. We rode the train back home and then enjoyed some hot cocoa. On Saturday we drove down to Terry's brother's house in Riverton and spent the day with them. We really enjoyed ourselves on this trip and it was really a bummer to come home!....

All About The D-Man

Today's blog is all about my little man Damon.
(AKA: D, Day, Deebs, and Big D)
This is one special little guy. There is just something about him, I can't even put into words. I just love this boy! He is the sweetest little man ever. He has got the life...

He starts his mornings anywhere between 9:30 and 10:30. When he wakes up, he doesn't cry or scream like most babies or toddlers. First off, he just kinda plays and talks to himself in his crib. Then when he has enough of that, and is ready to get up, he just simply calls out for me. I will just hear the cutest little voice yelling out "Mommy". He will then wait for a while, and if I haven't come in he will yell out for me again. Its really cute.

Once he is up, he has his usual bowl of oatmeal. He loves his oatmeal! He can eat 3 packs of the instant oatmeal. His favorite is the apples and cinnamon flavor.
Once breakfast is done its cartoon time...

He loves watching pretty much anything on the Disney channel. His favorites are "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse", and "Little Einsteins." This is my time to get a few things done.
(Yes... my 1 year old watches t.v. Go ahead, judge me!)

By the time we are done watching cartoons, it is time for Ashlyn to get home from Kindergarten. Damon feels sooooo BIG when I let him ride down the road to the bus stop in the FRONT SEAT! And he just loves locking and unlocking the door while we sit at the busstop waiting for Ashlyn's bus to arrive.

 And he loves to sing along to the music in the car. His favorite is when Katy Perry's song "Last Friday Night" comes on. He loves the part when they chant "TGIF TGIF". He always does that part. (Though I'm pretty sure he isn't saying the right letters, but it sounds like it, so that's all that matters.)

Once we get home with Ashlyn, Damon just loves to follow her around and play with her. And she is really good about letting him tag along.  They pretty much play the afternoon away until Damon gets tired and needs his nap.
This usually happens around 2:00. So I carry him up to his bed, he fights me a little, but once I leave his room, he is good and usually falls asleep pretty quickly. And man does he sleep. Most the time, Terry gets home and Damon is still taking his nap. I love that he sleeps so well. And the good part about it is, if I need to run errands, I can put his nap off til a little later, and he still does just fine, and goes to sleep at his regular time at night. I sure got lucky!

Damon loves when Mom pretends to be a horse.

He loves to be outside.

And he loves to ride 4 wheelers!

Damon is also finally starting to talk. His favorite words right now are...
Mommy
Daddy
Phome= Phone
Home
Ball
Daddy home
Dow= Yes (not sure how he came up with that one!)
Meal= Oatmeal
Joo= Drink or Juice
Nack= Snack
Side= outside

One thing that he does that is pretty funny/gross is...
When we go to change his diaper, he tries really hard to push out a fart. And when he manages to get one out, he laughs his head off. And if he hears someone else fart, he runs over to them and touches their bum and says "bum bum (he makes a farting sound)" and then starts laughing. (Yes, my family farts, and you better hope Damon isn't around if you happen to fart as well!)

Well, we sure do love our little man. We couldn't imagine life without him!

A little bit of summer...

Here are a few of the things that we did this summer that haven't already been blogged about...

We went to our nephew Trace's baptism...
Here's Trace with Grandpa, Uncle Cordon, his dad (Trace), Uncle Robbin, and Uncle Terry.
Our family.
The Olson cousins. (Minus the "Georgia" cousins)
Back row: Donovan, Taylor, Bella, Trace, Blake, and Damon.
Front row: Bently, Ashlyn, and Sophia

We got our faces painted...
Ashlyn is a kitty, and Blake is Iron Man

We jumped on the trampoline with the water hose...

We played pitching machine and t-ball...
Blake warming up before one of his games.
(This picture was taken with my phone, hence the terrible quality!)

Ashlyn played t-ball this year for the 1st time. They were the "Purple Awesomeness." But the terrible mother that I am, didn't manage to take even one picture of her!!!

Blake's team was "Texas Roadhouse", so the mascott for Texas Roadhouse made it to a few of their games. Here Damon is playing catch with Andy the Armadillo.

During baseball season Damon did not leave the house without a bat and ball.

Terry had a birthday and turned 35!...

I had a birthday and turned 28!...

Blake discovered the Skate Park...

We went to "Fat Cats" with friends...

Carter, Dallin, Blake, Cade, and Ashlyn

There were many other things that I did not get pictures of. We had a really great and busy summer this year...
The beautiful Miss Ashlyn.

My handsome boys.
My cute kids.
